I focussed on the rock he jumped off and pressed the 'take' button half way, the camera got itself into 'take mode', then when he jumped I fully depressed the 'take' button. I had been having a problem with action shots on a digital camera until remembering about the halfway press thing. With the delay that digital cameras have when I fully depressed it in one go he had hit the water before the shot registered.
